Nashville, Tenn. (January 7, 2014) - It’s only January 7th and Nashvillian Charlie Peacock, GRAMMY® Award winning, multi-genre record producer, is at No. 1 on the iTunes® Jazz Chart with LEMONADE, his collection of twelve solo piano improvisations. Charlie Peacock’s production of The Civil Wars’ Barton Hollow garnered two GRAMMY® Awards in 2011 and was Gold certified. The eponymously titled The Civil Wars (2013) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Chart, has sold over 300,000 copies and is GRAMMY®-nominated. Peacock’s production of Holly Williams and The Lone Bellow were also singled out in 2013 as commercially and critically significant on many Best of 2013 lists.

It’s no stretch that the producer behind the pop, folk, and country music described above would share the same sort of soul found in solo piano improvisation. For Peacock, it’s all one soulful musical world. The producer/pianist did in fact produce three of Entertainment Weekly’s Ten Best Country Albums of 2013. However, he’s also the same musician that has recorded and performed with such top tier jazz improvisers as Ravi Coltrane, James Genus, Bela Fleck, Marc Ribot, Jeff Coffin, Joey Baron and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Perhaps all of this is why Electronic Musician wrote: “Charlie Peacock's life is like a game of musical chairs: he is constantly changing seats and trading places.”

Though now working in multiple genres, Charlie Peacock has a storied history with the Christian music community. He is a three-time recipient of the Gospel Music Award for Producer of the Year and produced songs #23, #50, #71, and #99 of CCM Magazine’s 100 Greatest Songs In Christian Music. In addition, Peacock is a songwriter ("Every Heartbeat") on the biggest selling recording in gospel music history, Amy Grant’s Heart In Motion. Peacock discovered and developed the multiple GRAMMY® and Dove-winning band, Switchfoot, producing several of their recordings. A three-time nominee for GMA Songwriter and Song of the Year, in addition to Amy Grant's "Every Heartbeat", Peacock is best known for the songs "Hands and Feet" (Audio Adrenaline), "Down In The Lowlands" (Russ Taff), Say The Name "Margaret Becker" and "In The Light" (dcTalk).

LEMONADE is Peacock’s third recording in the jazz (beyond jazz) genre. His first, Love Press Ex-Curio (2005) was followed by Arc of the Circle (2008), a duet recording with saxophonist Jeff Coffin. Each recording reached Top 5 on the CMJ Jazz Chart and both provide plenty of clues to Peacock’s unique piano approach, now fully revealed on LEMONADE.

About Charlie Peacock:
Peacock began his iconoclastic recording career in 1981 with a 12” single (“No Magazines” b/w “What They Like”). In 1984 he released his first solo full length, Lie Down In The Grass (Word/A&M) followed by his 1986 release, Charlie Peacock (Island). That same decade Peacock began his career as a record producer (The 77s, The Choir, Margaret Becker). In 1989 Peacock moved to Nashville, Tennessee to work with Amy Grant and record his first of five solo records for Gospel/ Christian label Sparrow Records. Peacock co-wrote the chart-topping pop single “Every Heartbeat” from the (5x) Platinum-selling album, Heart In Motion and went on to produce forty-plus recordings in the Gospel/Christian genre between 1989-1999 (Margaret Becker, Avalon, Steven Curtis Chapman, Out of the Grey). Peacock is a (3x) recipient of the gospel music Producer of The Year award.

More recently, Peacock is known as the producer behind The Civil Wars' Gold debut album Barton Hollow (2011) - earning GRAMMYs® for Best Folk Album and Country Duo - and the (2013) No. 1 Billboard debut, The Civil Wars, featuring the co-written single, “The One That Got Away.” In recent years, Peacock's solo output has included his acclaimed singer-songwriter release, No Man's Land (2012).

Peacock's many endeavors include working in Film/TV as a music supervisor (Switchfoot, The Daylights and Joy Williams), and as writer/director/producer for the short film The Legend Hank Cochran (2010) starring Merle Haggard, Elvis Costello, Lee Ann Womack and Jamey Johnson. Peacock was also music producer/film producer/director for Brooke Waggoner’s short Go Easy Little Doves concert DVD, and producer for the award-winning Any Day Now documentary of the Ten Out of Tenn Fall Tour 2008 starring Erin McCarley, Trent Dabbs, Katie Herzig and Matthew Perryman Jones.

Considered one of Nashville's most prolific cultural influencers, Peacock has dedicated himself to championing the independent music scene. Toward that end he has worked with Brooke Waggoner, The Civil Wars, Ruby Amanfu, k.s. rhoads, Lenachka, and the Ten Out of Tenn project featuring Erin McCarley, Matthew Perryman Jones, Trent Dabbs, Katie Herzig and more. A long-time advocate for social justice, Peacock has worked directly with The ONE Campaign for over a decade, a fruitful relationship that began in 2002 when he hosted co-founder Bono and, later, ONE President David Lane at his home, putting them in front of Nashville's artist community.
